Performance, value for money and governance

Housing Associations Housing Associations ALMOs and Registered Providers are used to regulation. Your IT systems underpin your approach to compliance; and your business processes are reliant upon IT to function. So it makes sense to ensure that your IT systems and processes are fully orientated to helping you achieve your objectives, that they are delivering value for money and are managed and governed appropriately.

If you can demonstrate that your IT systems and processes are independently validated as effective, this can only help when you need to continually demonstrate compliance with regulatory frameworks and show your tenants that you are doing the right things.

The National Computing Centre’s IT Department Accreditation (ITDA) Standard is a unique business improvement programme with a certification scheme that will help you address these issues and more.

An increasing number of HAs are undergoing assessment because the ITDA can help them fulfil their commitments to regulators and can be used to show tenants that the HA has adopted best practice, offers value for money, is performing well and has the appropriate governance in place – great news for the Annual Report.

The ITDA will provide you with:

  • An independent appraisal of your systems and processes against good practice used in other IT departments.
  • A framework for business improvement that will help you align IT to the needs of your association and ensure appropriate governance is in place.
  • A business improvement plan to help you build on your strengths and eliminate your weaknesses.
  • A certification standard that can be used to validate the effectiveness of the IT function with regulatory authorities and support the HA’s compliance with regulatory frameworks.

The assessment scheme that underpins the NCC ITDA is not a pass/fail technical assessment. It is a unique business performance improvement programme which delivers a bespoke Action Plan, subsequent progress against which is reviewed annually and so will help with on-going compliance requirements. You set your own agenda of continuous improvement and we monitor and help you stay focused on your stakeholder’s needs and on improving your department.
