In the last three years, the adoption of Microsoft SharePoint as an IT infrastructure platform has been dramatic, with much of this success attributed to SharePoint's browser based capabilities. Whilst IT departments have been keen to adopt the team-sites concept for project management and knowledge sharing, SharePoint has many other features that can be used to deliver business benefit. For example, SharePoint is capable of providing a large proportion of the functionality of dedicated Enterprise Content Management suites. In particular SharePoint 2010 has improved functionality including better connectivity, search, numerous services and the ability to create workflows without writing code.
