Off-Site Data Facilities - The user perspective (NCC Rapid Survey Report)

Free report As the scale and importance of organisational data has grown and the regulatory requirements relating to data security have become more sophisticated, the market for off-site data, backup, and secure facilities has evolved to meet the growing needs. This research set out to address these issues and examined the experiences and expectations of organisations that were using or planning to use off-site data facilities. The research found:

  • Regulatory and compliance issues are the main driver for organisations to have or develop an off-site data strategy.
  • Almost two-thirds of organisations that use off-site data back-up facilities would prefer the facility to be within 10 miles of one of their offices.

The results will be of interest to those responsible for defining or implementing information strategy within their organisation, and particularly to those with responsibility for business continuity, disaster recovery and compliance. The research was sponsored by International Business Wales (IBW).
